It means that quake could not find a skin for the model.
NULL as in zero/non etc skins are linked to or choosen for the model.
Can be caused by using a bad path when linking the skin or if you simply forgott to link it or deleted it (i tink),
So i suppose you could say that0 its both the model and the skin since link info is stored in the md2 file.
