I had a decent sized level that returned this error. I took the whole thing, grouped it, then resized the level. It works fine now. Hope that helps.

I may have been fiddling with the directory structure at some point, but I couldn't see anything out of place.

Too many light styles on a face
[in Quake at least,] this was caused by too many different light styles illuminating the same face[s] of a brush[s]. I think the limit is 4?
