       The blaster fires the same stuff that comes out of the more 
    powerful Hyper-blaster but doesn't burn any cells. The projectiles 
    fly towards the cross-hair with very minor variance usually hit below 
    and to the right of the cross-hair for right handedness. 

       The weapon is equally effective at point-blank to medium range, but 
    it is often difficult to hit a distant human target as the round is 
    easily seen and avoided as it flies through the air. The weapon seems 
    to "fizzle out" when fired long distances. 

       An unfortunate side effect of the blaster is that the projectile's 
    particle trail will always compromise the location of the shooter. 
    This is in direct contrast to the hitscan nature of the default 
    weapon for each of id software's previous 3d action games. 
     
       Additionally, the weapon can be equipped with a "silencer" that muffles the sound of the beam firing.  This effect is pretty much 
    useless against reasonably intelligent human opponents as the 
    obvious trail the projectile leaves no doubt that the weapon has been discharged in the event of a miss.  Note:  The silencer works with each of the other weapons as well.
     
       When fighting an opponent equipped with a blaster, the best 
    strategy is to attack relentlessly with any other weapon.
