July 9, 1998 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Title : Downtown v2.0: Revival Filename : downtown.bsp (pak9.pak) Author : Sean Prest aka FatalCure Email Address : fatalcure@quake2.com Web Address : http:/www.quake2.com/plague/(downtown/) Description : Downtown remake for PC Fan's Contest Credits : id for the original which I used as a rough base as well as textures. : Yahn for BSP : Author of Wally a bunch of people whose names I dont have time to hunt down. Tools Used : BSP : Photoshop 4 with .WAL Plugin : Wally : QuakeDM : MS-DOS Edit : WAD2WAL : Pak Explorer : QPed Special Thanks to : : : ----------------------------------------------------------------- Play Information : It should play similar to the original but has more weapons then the Doom2 version had. The DM start points that are in the original are still there but more have been added since this map can hold quite a few ppl. There is currently room for 16 players, if you want it to hold more let me know and I'll add more starting points, although I think the ammo and weapons would be really maxed with 16 anyways. I've put everything in a pak9.pak file so that you can run the game with bots etc, instead of having to put the map and textures in a seperate directory. Preformance : GL recommended but not required Slightly faster then most of Unreal, slower then Quake2. Try 512x384 if its too choppy. The sheer size of the outdoor areas despite optimization mean that it bogs a bit on slower machines. Bugs : Pop-in occurs when viewing from one extreme of the map to another If anyone knows if to disable that limitation to Quake2 via command line or otherwise let me know ----------------------------------------------------------------- Installation : Just drop the pak file into your baseq2 directory ----------------------------------------------------------------- Construction : a little under a month Brushes : 12xx Entities : ?
