I think I get it. Because I've animated the weapon and model together, the weapon's position in 3d space will be saved in each frame, so it will appear in sync with the model.
Any idea how Quake2 identifies which weapons is which? What I mean is, could I generate new weapon replacements to include with my model?
I'm working on a terminator marine, which has a weapon called a bolter (double-barrelled weapon, could be the super shotgun) and terminators have different variants of each kind of weapon. I'm wondering if it's possible to change the look for each weapon (rocket launcher, grenade launcher) etc.....
