: Just a guess here but if you got Max from a file sharing program, then some files are missing. When you install Max again, leave out Character Studio and samples. The installation should work.
I did omit the Character studio and samples, because when I did not omit them then it told me that there were missing .cab files. So I get to the near end of the installation and it rolls back everything. It had even made a shortcut on the desktop, then as though it does some final check (for the dongle) it takes everthing back and erases all of the files it just installed. As if to say "HA HA you thought you had beaten the protection, but you cant!" Or maybe that is just me reading to far into it... But anyways. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
