___________________________ FEAR DEATHMATCH PACK v1.0 ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ SITE: http://quake2.com/fear MAIL: fearteam@hotmail.com INFO: İ1998 The FEAR Team DATE: April 5, 1998 I. Introduction ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ FEAR DEATHMATCH PACK contains the top eight Quake II deathmatch levels available on the internet. We have reviewed over 500 custom Quake II deathmatch levels and selected these as the most well balanced and intricately designed. You can find a log of our reviewed levels on our homepage. Server ops will be pleased to learn that our pack is highly customizable and allows random map rotation. In addition, our pack supports VWEP, the addition of visual weapons allowing clients to see what weapon their opponents are holding. II. The Levels ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ All levels in this pack are used with the permission of their respective authors. The original level documentation is included in PAK0.PAK under \DOCS\ directory. Player listings are our own recommendations, not those of the author. The levels include: NAME LEVEL AUTHOR PLAYERS Pain Killer ztn2dm1 Sten Uusvali 2-6 Finger's 2nd... ikdm2 Iikka Keranen "Fingers" 2-10 Inferno Compound infcomp Greg Barr "Manx" 2-6 DM4 Remake dm4q2 Cyprian "Smyken" 2-10 Armageddon 5 arma5 Matthias Worch 4-24 The Abandoned... conduit David Kelvin "Kevlar" 3-12 Da Tank tank21 Invictus 3-12 HipnoticDM1 Remake* hipdm1 Michael Roska "Blueseed" 3-12 III. Installation ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Unzip fearpak1.zip into \quake2\fear\ using either PKunzip or Winzip (http://www.winzip.com). The subdirectory must be titled "fear" or the code won't know where to find the levels. Example: if Quake II was installed in c:\games\quake2\ you would unzip the files into c:\games\quake2\fear\ You must add "+set game fear" to your normal Quake II starting command line. To play, click on START on the Windows95 taskbar and select RUN from its submenu. For the example above you might type in c:\games\quake2\quake2 +set game fear To play these custom levels you must now connect to a server running FEAR DEATHMATCH PACK. You can find an updated list on our website. To connect to one of these servers, simply bring down the console and type "connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and you will be ready to play! FEAR.INI is ignored in clients. If you have trouble installing this patch, please feel free to email us. If you wish, you can play VWEP with our deathmatch pack. VWEP allows players to see the weapons their opponents hold. Download the VWEP client pack (1.6mb http://www.telefragged.com/tsunami/) and place it in your \quake2\baseq2\ directory. IV. Running a Server ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Please contact us if you wish the run a server, we are trying to maintain a master list. After installing the pack as described in step 2, you MUST move the file FEAR.INI into the root directory of Quake II. You can change the default order of level selection if you wish. To use these commands on a non- dedicated server remove the "sv" proceeding each command. Start your dedicated server as you normally would. At the console type in "sv maplist seq" to cycle through the levels listed in FEAR.INI or "sv maplist rnd" to enable random level selection. We recommend you set a timelimit of 20 minutes and a fraglimit of 30 for best gameplay. FEAR SERVER COMMANDS sv maplist [seq|rnd] seq = rotate sequentially (default) rnd = rotate randomly sv maplist start starts running the maps sv maplist next manually moves to next level sv maplist list to display current level list sv maplist off clear maplist memory sv maplist help displays server help OPTIONAL COMMANDS timelimit x next map at x minutes fraglimit x next map at x frags rcon_password x sets remote login password to x rcon [pw] [command] allows client to act as sysop If you wish to log-in remotely to your server as an operator, specify a "rcon_password" from your dedicated console window. When you log on as a client, bring down the console and type in rcon [password] [server command] V. Credits ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ The FEAR Team: Mustafa (mustafaka@superonline.com) Coding, beta testing.
