Top 6-10 Quake II Deathmatch Levels

The deathmatch levels that didn't quite make it to the top 5 but are still worth downloading are included here. We welcome all comments and level submissions. For a more in-depth analysis of these Quake II levels please refer to Awoq2 which is a Quake2.com affiliate. Tip: Enabling 'weapon stay' in the server parameters not only balances games better, but allows for more players.

VI.  'Armageddon 5' by Matthias Worch
From the author of Beyond Belief comes a an amazing level for large deathmatch games. The item / weapon placement is average and the texture usage isn't exceptional, but the map's layout is outstanding. It is easily as big as any of id's Quake II levels and different segments of the level are very well interconnected. We recommend 10 players for an ideal game.   Players: 8-24   Size: 931kb   FTP: 1 or 2

VII.  'Third Degree' by Phil Chopp (ReTinaL)
Third Degree bears a striking similarity to honorable mention choice guns and ammo, by another member of "da pack" team. The level is compact, well balanced, and extremely well textured. The weapons used are chosen and placed wisely throught the level. You will have to install the additional texture wad, included in the zip, for the level to appear correct.   Players: 2-5   Size: 288kb   FTP: 1 or 2

VIII.  'Da Tank' by Invictus
Da Tank is a great map for quick paced medium sized games. Boasting a symmetrical design encirculating a central room, excitement is added with underwater powerups and alternate navigation routes. Unlike many of its peers, Da Tank's simplistic approach to deathmatch rivals even the quality of id Software's levels. Item placement is very good, but not perfect.   Players: 3-12   Size: 324kb   FTP: 1 or 2

IX.  'Fingers' 2nd Quake2 Deathmatch Level' by Iikka Keranen
Move over Frank Loyd Wright! In his second release Iikka has crafted a multi floor battle arena with outstanding design and architecture. The level floats in space--conveniently allowing players to knock each other off to their death. The texturing is great and inkeeping with a theme, but the item placement is rather sparce and the level has an empty feel to it.   Players: 2-6   Size: 245kb   FTP: 1 or 2

X.  'StroggDM2: House of Glass' by Mark Major
In addition to being one of the most beautiful architectural designs we've encountered, StroggDM2 is designed with many traps and places of hiding. It has some of the best weapon layouts we've seen and has a strong balance for larger groups of players. We recommend 5 players for an ideal game.   Players: 3-12   Size: 469kb   FTP: 1 or 2
